let’s create something as unique and timeless as your surf crafts.
A website that stands out and stops time.
Why I want to work with you
Theres so many things that I admire about your journey as a surfer and shaper. I respect the lifelong dedication working your craft in and out of the water. It truly shows how passionate you are and I find that very inspiring.
It’s not what you do but how you do it. Altered Blade is an art form that serves the local community, not a corporation aiming to sell as many units as possible. You are keeping the art of shaping surfboards alive and thats something I think is so important for our community and all the future generations. Although a lot is unsaid, you give space for people to read between the lines or even draw their own. Your surf crafts look amazing and the work speak for itself.
I’ve even had the pleasure to share the line up with some locals riding your boards and they were so happy and stoked to talk about you and the special board you made for them.
That being said, I would love to work with you. Let’s showcase what you have created with Altered Blade and help you stand out beyond the scroll.
Whatever your website goals are , I’m here to help make them a reality.
About me
Hey, my name Vinny and I’m a creative individual that is new to the island looking to connect with people that love and care about what they do.
It would be great to get together and see if we would be a good fit. With busy schedules I know thats not always possible so I wrote a little about myself below.

I want start this off by saying that I love snowboarding. Even at a young age, before I had even strapped into a board for the first time, I was fascinated by the culture and knew I wanted to be a part of it.
I had my bedroom walls covered in magazine cut outs haha.
Over the next 10+ years, I snowboarded a lot and made some really good friends with the same interests and passions. We started documenting what we were doing at the park behind the house and the ski hill and even in the streets of the suburbs of Toronto.
This sparked a new passion for capturing these special moments and really got me into photography and videography. Just like on the board, it takes years to develop your own style behind the camera. Eventually me and my friend started filming and editing videos under the name Paid Programming.
We were simply filming each other snowboarding on unique spots we found in the city. We would even be searching for them during Summer. Figuring out how to use tools like google maps satellite view to try and find spots in places we've never been was fun. This allowed us to stay ahead of the curve when snow started to fly.
The mix of young blood energy and unique spots helped us stand out in the snowboard industry. Eventually companies started to notice us and wanted to support our projects helping us pursue our passion, make more videos and travel to new places.
Its amazing everything that can happen with some passion. Recently I have taken a small step back from the hustle of filming snowboarding every Winter and just looking to have some fun and enjoy it with my friends and the rest of the snowboard community.

Once I started documenting the world around me, I just couldn't stop. There's something special about capturing a moment in time and being able to look back at it years down the road.
It's been 9 years since I first picked up a camera. Almost a decade of creating precious memories with friends and family.
When I was 18 years old, I saved up some money and left Toronto. I moved into my small car and headed West. I packed my camera, a surfboard, my snowboard and I hit the road. I had so much time on my hands that the next seven months were instrumental to becoming a better photographer.
The following Winter, I got my first taste of the working world with opportunities from Whistler Blackcomb and Canadian Wilderness Tours (2016). I was out in the elements shooting photographs of beautiful landscapes and it was a dream. I really loved it, until I didn't..
The nine to five work grind was getting to me and I felt like I was missing out on a lot of life. The balance was not there and felt like I needed to make some changes.
The contrast between the free time I had while living in the car and the commitment of the big photo gig made me realize that time was the most valuable thing I have. I started thinking of ways I could organize my life to have enough money to eat and enough time to pursue my passions.
I landed on Entrepreneurship and wanted to learn more about being my own boss. I went back home and enrolled into a Business and Entrepreneurship program at the local college.
I continued capturing images throughout my studies. They were much more personal and reminded me of why I started in the first place.
Now a days I am much more private when it comes to my images. I was kind of over feeding the machine and didn't enjoy the instant gratification that comes with sharing on social media.
Today, I take photos to help Artist and Non-Profits and help people navigate the online world. As for my personal work, I have been really enjoying capturing memories to look back on later in life.
Im currently working on a series of personal photo books, categorizing my work over the last few years. It should be a fun tangible way to look back on all these great memories.

When it came to surfing, from my first wave I became obsessed. The same drive and love I had for snowboarding was there and I had this whole new world to explore in the ocean.
Being so deep in a parallel world, it felt great to be a beginner at something again. It was fresh and fun and I really wanted to just dive in and apply myself.
My idea was to save up some money, get a surfboard, buy a car and drive to the West Coast. Before I left home, I did lots of research to learn more about the culture and history that surrounded the art of riding a wave.
Eventually it was time to shut the computer off and hit the road. I spent the next seven months teaching myself how to surf. It was an amazing and humbling experience going from never setting foot into the ocean to surfing almost every day.
Spending my time on the coast, taking it all in was unreal. I was lucky enough to surf countless waves between the beaches in Tofino and the points in San Diego.
It was a dream come true to get into to surfing. Along the way I heard that I could Surf on the Great Lakes back home. I couldn't believe there was surf where I grew up, I was stunned.
I spent the next few years back home in the suburbs of Toronto learning how to forecast wind swells and searching for spots that had potential.
I was completely blown away by the community of Surfers that were out there down to surf any wave or ripple in the water. All through the harshest conditions of Winter, the worse the weather was, the better the waves got. I started finding my people, shaping friendships and sharing our secret waves.
This was around the time the world shut down for covid. With so much time on my hands I decided to shape myself a new board. I wanted to try to make a 70's inspired wide point forward pintail single fin. I made it really thick to catch the less powerful lake waves and added a very aggressive V bottom in the tail for manoeuvrability. From the first wave on my relatively shitty hand shaped board I loved the feeling so much I sold my other board and have not looked back.
This brings us to my new chapter here on Vancouver island. It was a fun Summer trying some new waves and sharing them with some new friends. I'm excited for some swells to hit and uncover new waves closer to Victoria.

Last year I started Chapter 2, with the goal of creating timeless and unique websites for passionate Artists and Non-Profits.
I wanted to create a service that allowed people to stand out in the online space without breaking the bank.
Starting this design company was a culmination of years of experience designing websites, a photography background and professional experience in the online space.
Ultimately I just want to connect with people that love what they do.
It has been an extremely rewarding and inspiring experience working with people seeing them create a life around what they love.
My experience with Web Design all started 9 years ago, when I made my first photography portfolio with Wordpress. I was fascinated and intrigued that I could layout images and some text and a digital book that lived online.
I was tinkering with Wordpress, Wix and Squarespace; all different platforms that became new outlets for me to be creative.
The real journey began when a family friend needed some help making a website for her Spa services. I dove in and learned how to work with people, Squarespace, how to schedule appointments and so much more. It was a great learning experience; I learnt that I knew nothing haha.
So I went to school, I enrolled in a Business and Entrepreneurship program at Durham College to learn.
I truly didn’t know where this would take me, but I was along for the ride and happy to be there.
After school, I ended up in Calgary, Alberta and found some work with the Online team at a local skate shop called Sourceboards. At the office, I worked in customer service, supply chain management of orders, communications between different locations and uploading products.
Later I got promoted to Assistant Manager position of the Online Store. Overseeing a team of 6 employees, me and my team successfully managed the businesses Shopify website generating a revenue of CAD $5.7 million in 2023 alone. We also had a ping pong table and I got pretty good at that too.
Being a part of a successful business pushed me to start one of my own. I really appreciated working in an environment where people loved what they did. Thats when Chapter 2 Design Company was born.
