BOULDERHOUSE Marketing
I’ve really enjoyed my time working at BoulderHouse over the last few months and I’m honoured to be getting more involved joining the Marketing Team with this amazing company.
I’m truly inspired by the level of care, time and effort put into creating an inclusive environment for the community. It’s incredible the impact this place has on people on people and it’s been cool to see it first hand. There is something truly special going on here and I feel fortunate to be around to document it.

Although I am not an all star climber just yet, I’m really excited to dive into this culture and learn more about the world of climbing.
As I absorb and learn more about climbing culture, I’ll be create stronger marketing content that resonates with our target audience.
-
Over the last few months I have built a good relationship with the staff.
Jonny and I work well together and I’m excited to collaborate on more MKTG projects. I have also spent a lot of time with the setting team; they feel comfortable with me hanging out pointing the camera at them. We have fun creating content for the gym.

I studied Business and Entrepreneurship at Durham College and graduated with honours in 2020.
Chapter 2
Chapter 2 is my web design company I started to help passionate Artists and Non Profits stand out in the online space.
Working with clients in different domains lead me to improve my market research skills. My goal is to become an expert in their field to ultimately find creative ways for them to stand out.
It has been an extremely rewarding and inspiring experience seeing people create a life around what they love.
Diving into Culture
Snowboarding has given me a unique perspective on marketing. I’ve had the opportunity to be an athlete used as a marketing tool as well as work on the other side of things as a videographer.
I believe having this unique experience makes it easier to connect with the climbers in front of camera. I understand what they are going through because I’ve been there before.
Most athletes also have a vision of how they want to be perceived. I want to work together to make them shine.
-
I want to create the best work possible for the gym and will be investing in some new gear to create sharper, brighter videos with better audio.
The gear I plan on purchasing:
Panasonic AC160 videocamera ($1600)
Rhode Microphone ($200)
Video Tripod ($200)
Canon G10 point and shoot ($300)
-
Although gear is cool, it takes more than the professional equipment to create memorable Marketing content. Creativity is not a skill you can pick up off the shelf. It takes time to develop and refine.
Luckily thats what I’ve been doing over the last 10 years and have built a strong foundation behind the lens.

I am truly passionate about Boulder House. I have really enjoyed working here the past 4 months and want to contribute to the business continued success. I want put in the work to collaborate with Jonny to create the best marketing materials possible.

Life is expensive. Despite living simply, the cost of living in Victoria has impacted me. The cost of food and housing are high and seem to be ever rising which makes it difficult to live comfortably.
According to statistics Canada, the median Marketing Assistant in BC made $ 31.25 per hour in 2022 / 2023. I want to work towards being able to afford a comfortable life.
(I know, me and everyone else.)
